Beautiful websites for local businesses, churches & creators.

Hi, I’m Carlos, and Elgin Designs is just me: one local guy who loves building websites. Since 2016, I’ve designed, built, hosted and cared for websites for an electrical contractor, churches and an online store — even a church’s new logo and mobile app. I also build websites for non-profits and photographers, plus personal and blog sites.

My own new website is almost ready, but my work is already live. See what I’ve done for an electrician, a church and an online store.

About

Hi, I’m Carlos. (Your friendly neighbourhood web designer.)

I’m a software developer based in Aylmer, Ontario, and I’ve been building websites since 2016 under my software company, CS Software, as a summer job and during my studies in University. By day I work as a full-stack software engineer.

I started Elgin Designs to help local businesses, churches, non-profits, and neighbours look great online, without the technical headaches. I love helping people get setup online for the first time or optimizing their existing website to see better results.

Elgin Designs is just me. There’s no team or call centre, and your project never gets handed off. When you email, I’m the one who replies, and I’m the one who builds your website and looks after it for as long as you need.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What does Elgin Designs do?

Elgin Designs is me, Carlos: I design, build, host and look after websites. I also help with Google Business Profiles, domain names, SEO and AI search optimization, Shopify stores, logos, website photos, church management software like Subsplash, church mobile apps, and web consulting.

Who do you work with?

Local and small businesses, online shops, churches and non-profits, photographers, and people who want a personal, profile or blog website.

Where is Elgin Designs based, and which areas do you serve?

Elgin County, Ontario — I live in Aylmer. I work with people in Aylmer, St. Thomas, London, Port Stanley, Tillsonburg and the small towns and rural communities around them. I’ve also worked with organizations in Hamilton, Stoney Creek and Toronto, and I can work remotely with clients across Canada.

How much does a website cost?

It depends on the size of the website, the features you need and how often you want changes. During my launch special, websites for individuals start at $100, churches and non-profits start at $350, and businesses start at $500. After launch, those prices go up to $200, $500 and $650. Hosting is $15 a month for personal websites, $25 for churches and non-profits and $50 for businesses. Consulting and add-ons, such as ongoing changes and updates or advanced SEO, are priced based on what you need. Website builder subscriptions such as Shopify, WordPress hosting, Wix or Subsplash are extra. All prices are in Canadian dollars.

Do you build websites for small businesses?

Yes. I’ve designed and hosted Multi-Werx Electric’s website in Stoney Creek since 2016, most recently rebuilding it from scratch in 2026, and in 2025 I refreshed Pride In Service’s Shopify store.

Do you build church websites and apps?

Yes. For Bradley Street Church of God in Aylmer, I set up Subsplash church management software, designed the church’s website and its iPhone and Android app, created its logo, and I’m its webmaster. I also designed the original version of Church of God Hamilton’s website, and I’ve given web consulting to churches in Hamilton and Toronto.

Can you host and look after my website?

Yes. I’ve hosted websites since 2016 and I can be your ongoing webmaster for updates and changes. I can also register, renew and manage your domain name.

Can we update the website ourselves?

Yes, if you’d like to. Shopify, WordPress, Wix and Subsplash each include an editor your staff or volunteers can use to change text and photos. On a fully custom site, or whenever you’d rather not, I can make the updates for you as your webmaster.

Can you refresh my existing website or Shopify store?

Yes. I work with Shopify, WordPress, Wix and Subsplash as well as fully custom sites built from scratch. For Pride In Service, I refreshed a Shopify store’s theme and design, added a custom search bar and new home page photos.

Can you help my business show up on Google and in AI search?

Yes. I can set up and manage your Google Business Profile (formerly Google My Business) so you appear on Google Maps and in local searches, and I build websites with SEO basics: fast pages, clear business details and the behind-the-scenes information search engines read. For Multi-Werx Electric, that includes their services, service area and business hours. I also do AI search optimization, so tools like ChatGPT and Google’s AI Overviews can find your business and describe it accurately.

How do I start a project?

I’m taking on new projects now. Email elgindesigns.ca@gmail.com with a few lines about your organization and what you need. I’ll reply personally with a short client intake form, and once it’s filled in, I’ll set up a phone call or meeting at a time that works for you and then give you a clear price. An online inquiry form is coming with the new website.

How it works

From first email to launch day.

Getting started

  1. Send an email

A few lines about you and what you need, to elgindesigns.ca@gmail.com.

  2. Fill out my intake form

I’ll reply with a short intake form, so I understand your project before we meet.

  3. Let’s talk

Once I have your form, I’ll set up a phone call or meeting at a time that suits you.

  4. Get your price

You’ll get a clear price based on the size, features and care your website needs.

Building your website

  1. Preview your home page

I design your home page first to set the overall look — colours, fonts and style — so we both know we’re headed in the right direction.

  2. I build the rest

Once you approve the preview, I build the rest of your pages. I’ll send a short form asking for the photos, descriptions and details I need.

  3. Final review

You look over the finished website, and I make any last changes.

  4. Your website goes live!

I launch your website, and it’s ready to share.
